Job SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Director to join our team. This role is ideal for a senior HR leader who thrives in a fast paced, evolving environment and enjoys balancing strategy with hands on execution. The HR Director will oversee a portfolio of client relationships, guide HR strategy and service delivery, and lead a team of HR Generalists. Success in this role requires strong consulting instincts, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and the confidence to step into active client work and establish stability quickly. This position offers high autonomy, visibility with clients, and the opportunity to shape HR solutions that meaningfully impact organizations. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 10+ years of progressive HR experience; consulting or multiclient environment experience strongly preferred. Proven experience leading and developing HR professionals. Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic HR advisor to business leaders. Strong consulting mindset with the ability to self direct, manage ambiguity, and make decisions with incomplete information. Comfortable operating in a fast paced environment with shifting priorities and evolving client needs. High degree of resilience, emotional steadiness, and ability to remain composed during rapid change. Excellent communication, relationship building, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines in a hybrid work environment. Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to travel locally within the St. Louis region for onsite client engagement as needed. Key ResponsibilitiesClient Partnership & StrategyServe as the primary strategic HR partner for an assigned portfolio of clients.Partner with client leadership to understand business objectives and translate them into effective HR strategies.Proactively assess client needs, recommend solutions, and identify opportunities to expand or refine service offerings.Quickly build trust with clients and stabilize relationships during transitions or shifting priorities.Manage client expectations, priorities, and communication to ensure high satisfaction and long term partnerships.Ensure client work is delivered within defined scope; identify and escalate scope changes as needed.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, coach, and manage HR Generalist direct reports supporting client accounts.Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance on client deliverables and HR recommendations.Conduct regular check ins, performance feedback, and development planning for team members.Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high performing team culture.Provide clear direction and support during periods of change or client transitions.HR Consulting & Service DeliveryOversee and support delivery of core HR services, including employee relations, compliance, talent management, performance management, and HR program design.Ensure HR practices and recommendations align with federal, state, and local employment regulations.Review and approve HR policies, processes, and documentation developed for clients.Serve as a senior escalation point for complex or sensitive employee relations matters.Step into active client work during onboarding or transitions to ensure continuity of service.Business Operations & StrategyCollaborate with SRV HR leadership on service model improvements, internal processes, and strategic initiatives.Monitor workload distribution, resource utilization, and client capacity across the team.Contribute to the development of best practices, templates, and scalable HR solutions.Stay current on HR trends, employment law updates, and emerging best practices to inform client strategy.Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000 depending on experienceWhat We OfferCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.Hybrid work structure with flexibility and autonomy.Leadership role with influence over client strategy and internal operations.Opportunities for ongoing professional development and growth.A collaborative, supportive team culture.Meaningful work partnering with diverse organizations to solve real HR challenges.
