EHS Specialist (EHS & Security Program Specialist)Location: Hayward,San Carlos CA (on-site)About 1XWe build humanoid robots that work alongside people to solve labor shortages and create abundance.Role OverviewWe are seeking an EHSSpecialist to support the EHS & Security Lead in implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving environmental health, safety, and physical security programs across manufacturing and office operations at 1X.This role is hands-on and execution-focused. The EHS Specialist is responsible for inspections, documentation, training coordination, compliance tracking, and day-to-day program support. The position works closely with Manufacturing, Facilities, HR, and leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, incident prevention, and safe, secure operations.You WillEHS Compliance & ProgramsSupport implementation of Cal/OSHA, OSHA, and internal safety programsMaintain Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and related documentationAssist with hazard assessments, JSAs, and risk evaluationsConduct routine safety inspections and walkthroughsTrack corrective actions and follow up on closureSupport chemical safety, HazCom, SDS management, and labeling programsAssist with fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation planningSupport battery safety, machine shop safety, and equipment safety programsIncident ManagementAssist with incident, near-miss, and injury investigationsSupport root cause analysis and corrective action developmentMaintain incident records and regulatory logsCoordinate workers' compensation and return-to-work documentation (as needed) Training & AwarenessCoordinate and track safety and security trainingSupport onboarding safety orientation for employees and contractorsMaintain training records and compliance statusAssist in developing toolbox talks and safety communications Physical Security SupportSupport access control, badge systems, and visitor managementAssist with security guard oversight and vendor coordinationSupport camera system monitoring and documentationAssist with incident response and security reportingConduct security audits and vulnerability assessments Documentation & ReportingMaintain EHS and security records, permits, and certificationsSupport internal and external auditsPrepare compliance reports and dashboardsTrack regulatory deadlines and inspection schedules Must HaveBachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field2-5 years of experience in EHS, manufacturing safety, or operational complianceWorking knowledge of OSHA / Cal/OSHA standardsExperience with inspections, audits, and compliance documentationStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace Nice to HaveASP, CSP, CHST, or similar certification (or in progress)Experience with physical security systems (access control, CCTV, guard services)Experience in robotics, automation, electronics, or advanced manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with ISO 45001 / ISO 14001Experience supporting battery safety or electrical safety programs Benefits & CompensationHourly Range: $86,000-110,000Health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysEqual Opportunity Employer
