Kates-Boylston Publications is the leading independent voice in funeral service for nearly 150 years. Founded in 1877, the company has grown and evolved to become a trusted source of information and resources for funeral directors, cemetery and crematory professionals, and others in the deathcare profession. We are seeking an editor for Funeral Service Insider (FSI), a weekly digital newsletter. FSI is a practical, business-focused newsletter for funeral home owners, managers, decision-makers, and industry suppliers who want clear insight into where the profession is headed—and how to respond. It delivers timely reporting, analysis, and commentary on the operational, financial, and strategic issues shaping funeral service today, from staffing and succession planning to technology, regulation, and market consolidation. Straightforward and independent in tone, FSI cuts through the noise to help professionals make smarter decisions and run stronger businesses. FSI also delivers a podcast every other week. Podcasting/hosting experience is a plus. The editor will be a reporter, writer, editor, collaborator and the brand’s editorial leader. Responsibilities: -Manage the editorial direction and mission of one weekly newsletter, including: issue planning, interviewing, writing, editing, podcasting, hosting webinars, etc. -Collaborate with in-house editors and offer direction and guidance when needed or in planning. -Create content (for articles, social media posts, website) that informs, entertains, and engages B2B audience, providing thoughtful analysis of complex issues. -Serve as editorial stakeholder for special content projects: books, print and digital, educational conferences, other products. -Serve as conference or webinar moderator. -Build relationships within the industry as a trusted and respected journalist. -As the editorial stakeholder, this position will offer direction and guidance to other editors. -Attend industry trade shows, approx 2-3 per year. -Ensure adherence to company style guidelines and standards. -Attention to detail and ability to maintain high editorial standards. -Plan and host bi-weekly episodes of FSI: The Podcast.
