Stepdown Registered Nurse - Pooler, Georgia

Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Provide specialized care for stepdown patients in an Emergency Room holding unit within a dynamic healthcare setting located in Pooler, GA. This contract nursing role requires delivering critical support to patients boarded in the ER, balancing acuity and patient load with clinical precision.Key Responsibilities:Deliver professional nursing care to patients in the ER holding unit with a ratio of approximately 1:4-5, adjusting for patient acuity.Monitor cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and critical care patients, interpreting telemetry strips and documenting accurately.Collaborate with respiratory therapists, monitor techs, and imaging teams to coordinate patient care efficiently.Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including the use of psych/seclusion rooms and maintaining security standards.Participate in department-specific orientation during the first week to integrate smoothly into the team.Qualifications & Experience:Active Georgia or Compact RN license, current BLS and ACLS certifications.A minimum of 2 years recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or 1 year PCU plus at least 1 year in telemetry, ER, or ICU.Prior completion of at least one travel assignment is preferred.Recent references required from previous assignments.Ability to read and save telemetry strips using Spacelabs monitors.Adherence to a navy scrub dress code.Schedule:Must work at least 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule (approximately every other weekend).Holiday shifts as needed based on department requirements.No call, standby, or floating requirements.Location Highlights:Pooler, GA, offers a welcoming community with proximity to cultural amenities, coastal access, and a mild climate year-round.
