Job Opportunity: PLEXOS Specialist (Remote)We are seeking a highly proficient PLEXOS Specialist to join a consultancy team supporting a project with the Guyana Power & Light Inc. This initiative focuses on determining renewable energy hosting capacity limits and developing modern distribution codes to support Guyana’s national energy goals.Role OverviewYou will lead the production cost modelling efforts required to evaluate the economic impact of various Distributed Energy Resource (DER) penetration scenarios. Your analysis will directly inform the least-cost pathway for grid modernisation and the integration of intermittent renewable energy.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Cost Modelling: Perform comprehensive modelling using the latest version of PLEXOS to evaluate net economic benefits and costs of DER integration.Scenario Analysis: Conduct unconstrained economic and specific constrained dispatch simulations to evaluate the impact on levelised production costs and $CO_2$ emissions.Financial Assessment: Calculate discounted net present value and benefit-cost ratios for high-penetration renewable scenarios.Grid Alignment: Ensure PLEXOS results align with steady-state and transient stability studies to identify cost-effective mitigation measures.Knowledge Transfer: Document methodologies and model-building processes to provide capacity building for utility engineers.RequirementsSoftware & Licensing: Expert-level proficiency in PLEXOS is mandatory. Candidates must possess a valid PLEXOS license to perform the required tasks.Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in power system engineering, with a specific track record in production cost analysis and electricity market modelling.Technical Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics, or a related field.Communication: Good written and spoken English.
