Job Title: Specialized Personal Attendant
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $18-$20. Starting pay will be based on experience. Pay will be increased as assigned trainings are completed.
Expectations
Specialized Personal Attendant provides direct service and support to individuals receiving Supported Living Services by working closely with all paid and unpaid companions/support persons and circles of support. Our current need is to fill Specialized Personal Attendant positions with a behavioral-prone consumer in East Sacramento. This role will be responsible for:
Provides crisis prevention/intervention services to those served.
Monitors people supported for symptoms of escalation, crisis, medication side effects, and intervenes when necessary.
Assists with life activities and choices such as meal preparation, household chores, and shopping. Specialized Personal Attendants are not housekeepers and should involve the person he/she supports in all tasks, as the person is able.
Assists with communication needs in whatever manner needed (e.g., speaking, writing, reading, emailing, and facilitated communication)
Ensures that the physical, health, and safety needs are being met.
Supports people in making informed decisions about their daily activities without interfering with their choice and self-direction.
Assists in developing and carrying out goals and objectives, including education and training.
Assists with any community activities in which he/she is involved.
Maintain and track a person’s expenditures, working within a person’s budget.
Qualifications
Minimum of two continuous years of experience working with individuals with I/DD, and one year specifically working with complex behaviors.
Flexible interpersonal skills.
Good judgment.
Willing to participate in ongoing training and education.
Able to lift/move up to 150 pounds.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Reliable vehicle.
CA driver license.
Current California auto insurance.
Clean driving record.
Required Trainings
This position requires additional/specialized company-provided training to be completed within 30 days of hire, which includes:
Pro-ACT 2-day training, to be renewed annually.
Safe Blocking®—the only trauma-informed, restraint-free blocking technique.
CPR/First Aid.
In addition, three company-provided learning modules to be completed within 60 days of hire with all remaining modules to be completed within 6 months. Other learning modules will be developed and assigned as necessary. The list of learning module options are as follows:
