Hiring a Full-Time Addiction Psychiatry/Addiction Medicine Physician in our Consultation & Liaison unit at SBUH!DescriptionThe Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Stony Brook Medicine is expanding. We are seeking a full-time faculty member to provide expertise in treating patients with substance use disorders within Stony Brook University Hospital for our growing inpatient addiction consultation service.This faculty role offers a unique opportunity to lead clinical program growth, drive quality improvement, and advance educational programming within a highly collaborative academic environment.Key responsibilitiesDirect Patient Care: Primary responsibilities to include delivering expertise during consultations to patients with substance use disorders in our medical and surgical hospital units.Clinical Leadership: Provide medical direction for the interprofessional inpatient addiction consultation service.Education & Supervision: Teach and supervise rotating residents and fellows.Program Development: Drive the expansion of the division’s clinical and educational footprint.About Stony Brook MedicineStony Brook Medicine is a premier 624-bed academic medical center and Level I trauma center. It houses the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, fostering a rich environment for academic advancement. Suffolk County, New York, where Stony Brook Medicine is located, is currently experiencing an opioid epidemic, in addition to the usually high prevalence of other substance use disorders in our local community and inpatient medical and surgical settings. Quality improvement in treating substance use disorders is an area of strategic focus at Stony Brook Medicine.Schedule: This is a full-time inpatient faculty position requiring approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. New York State residency is required on or before start date.Total Compensation: Starting at $336,000 annually, commensurate with experience and credentials. Apply for further information.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Education: MD, DO, or foreign equivalent.Licensure: Eligible for New York State medical licensure.Board Status: Board Certified/Eligible (BC/BE) in Psychiatry, or Board Certified in another medical specialty with additional BC/BE in Addiction Medicine.Clinical Experience: Experience diagnosing and treating substance use disorders within an academic or a clinical practice setting as a Physician.Preferred Qualifications:Specialty: Board-Certified Psychiatrist with subspecialty certification or eligibility in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine.Consultation Experience: Experience providing addiction consultations on inpatient medical/surgical services.Academic Experience: Experience teaching residents or fellows about substance use disorders in an ACGME-accredited program.Leadership: Demonstrated track record of clinical program development or quality improvement.
