Position SummaryThe Manager, Powerplant Engineering reports to the Senior Manager Fleet Engineering and is responsible for providing leadership, engineering support, administration and oversight of the Powerplant Engineering department, in addition to their engineering dutiesEssential ResponsibilitiesResponsible for technical standards and reliability for aircraft engines, powerplant, auxiliary power unit (APU) and related componentsTake a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, goal achievementEnsure required resources are available to meet operational and project requirements.Define and assign daily workload to qualified EngineersInteract and maintain relationships with all internal functions: Maintenance Programs, Reliability, Planning, Material, Maintenance, Quality, Technical Publications, Flight Operations, System Operations, etc.Coordinate engineering functions with regulatory agencies as required for approval for major repairs and alterationsEvaluate damaged engine parts and provide solutions beyond the applicable manual limitations in accordance with regulationIdentify new technologies that will improve the operational performance and reliability of powerplant systemsProvides technical assistance to operational departments and repair providers to support aircraft operations, engine repairs and/or maintenanceReview aircraft reliability data and implement corrective actions via engineering modification and/or repair documents in support of achieving aircraft technical dispatch reliability (TDR) goalsEstablish build standards and specifications for engines, powerplant, APUs and componentsDevelop and issue engineering orders to accomplish major and minor repairs, modifications and alterations to engines, powerplant, components and accessoriesDevelop engineering procedures, standards and process specification to comply with Airworthiness Directives and other regulatory requirementsReview Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and other service documents to determine applicability; perform cost benefit analysis to determine effectiveness of proposed modificationsReview Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) trend data and implement corrective actions to prevent operational problemsAbility to work with and understand engine manuals, maintenance manuals, maintenance programs, and reliability programsAssist the Senior Manager Fleet Engineering in formulating the annual department budget Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement Other duties as assignedMinimum Experience And QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experienceFive (5) years of relevant aerospace engineering experienceFamiliar with Federal Aviation Regulations governing aircraft and engine certification.Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customersMust be able to provide on-call off-hours support to Technical Operations Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated leadership skillsAbility to work effectively with others and be a participative team player Ability to take initiative and make sound judgmentsAbility to manage and coordinate aircraft modificationsAbility to prioritize and track daily activities to ensure timely task completion Ability to prepare and present concise written, verbal reports and presentationsAbility to communicate effectively; in both oral and written communication Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways’ insurance standardsAvailable for overnight travel (10%)Must pass a pre-employment drug testMust be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is locatedAuthorization to work in the US is required. (Light)CompensationThe base pay range for this position is between $90,000.00 and $150,000.00 per year.
