Cath Lab Technologist

Overview The Cath Lab Technologist plays a crucial role in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, providing essential support to physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of cardiology and medical terminology, as well as proficiency in aseptic techniques and patient care. The Cath Lab Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment, often within a Level II trauma center, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care. Duties Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring the sterile field is maintained. Monitor patients' vital signs and provide immediate care as needed during procedures. Utilize sonography techniques to assist in imaging and diagnostics. Maintain accurate records of procedures, including patient information and equipment usage. Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure comprehensive patient care before, during, and after procedures. Adhere to all safety protocols and aseptic techniques to minimize infection risk. Stay updated on advancements in cardiology practices and technologies. Skills Proficient knowledge of lab procedures related to cardiology and cardiac catheterization. Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to the cardiovascular system. Familiarity with telemetry monitoring systems for assessing heart rhythms. Ability to interpret physiological data and apply it in clinical settings. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with medical teams. Experience with vital signs monitoring and patient assessment techniques. Knowledge of aseptic technique principles to ensure patient safety during invasive procedures.
