Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other permissible factors.Benefits: No employer-provided benefits for this contract position.Job SummaryWe are seeking a hands-on Bench Scientist-III to support molecular biology and laboratory automation workflows in a high-throughput wet lab environment. The role will focus primarily on laboratory automation, molecular biology sample processing, workflow implementation, and optimization rather than bioinformatics.The successful candidate will operate and troubleshoot automated liquid handling systems, process high volumes of samples, implement laboratory methods, and support DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, NGS sample preparation, and related molecular biology workflows. Experience with Hamilton liquid handling platforms is highly preferred.ResponsibilitiesOperate Hamilton and other automated liquid handling platforms to support laboratory workflows.Run, monitor, and troubleshoot automated sample-processing and liquid-handling workflows.Implement new laboratory methods and optimize existing workflows for throughput, quality, and reliability.Process high volumes of samples received from multiple sites in accordance with established procedures.Perform DNA and RNA extraction and molecular biology sample preparation.Prepare samples for next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows.Perform RT-PCR assays and related molecular biology procedures.Conduct sample QC and support method validation activities.Follow laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, and applicable quality requirements.Support characterization workflows for engineered cell lines.Assist with scaling and improving laboratory automation processes.Document laboratory activities, results, deviations, and troubleshooting activities in accordance with applicable procedures.Collaborate with scientists and laboratory team members to identify workflow improvements and resolve operational issues.Support additional wet-lab activities, including cell culture or recombinant protein expression workflows, as needed.Required Qualifications5+ years of relevant molecular biology laboratory experience preferred.Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling platforms and high-throughput sample processing.Experience implementing laboratory methods and optimizing laboratory workflows.Experience troubleshooting laboratory automation systems and liquid-handling workflows.Experience with DNA extraction and RNA extraction.Experience with RT-PCR and molecular biology sample preparation.Experience with sample QC or related laboratory quality-control activities.Experience with NGS sample preparation and/or genomic or transcriptomic characterization workflows.Experience processing large volumes of laboratory samples.Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment.Ability to follow laboratory SOPs and established safety and quality procedures.Hamilton liquid handling experience is highly preferred.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Hamilton liquid handling systems.Automated assay development experience.High-throughput screening experience.Cell culture experience, including experience with CHO cells.Knowledge of recombinant protein expression.Python programming experience.SQL experience.Snowflake database experience.Experience with scientific data analysis or laboratory workflow automation.Experience with other automated liquid handling platforms may be considered in lieu of Hamilton experience.Work Requirements:Hands-on work in a wet laboratory environment is required.Ability to work with laboratory automation equipment and process high volumes of samples.Ability to work in a BSL-2 environment and comply with applicable laboratory safety procedures.Ability to accurately follow SOPs, document laboratory activities, and maintain required records.Ability to troubleshoot laboratory workflows and automation equipment in a timely manner.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional laboratory and scientific teams.Reasonable accommodations may be available for qualified individuals with disabilities, consistent with applicable law.Equal Opportunity Employer:We are an equal opportunity employer and consider qualified applicants without regard to legally protected characteristics under applicable federal, Washington State, and local laws.Application:Interested candidates may submit a current resume highlighting relevant molecular biology, laboratory automation, liquid handling, DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, NGS, and wet-lab experience.
