Description:
Job Purpose
To perform basic professional and technical engineering tasks ranging from inspections, reporting, plan preparation/review to contract administration.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Review drawings, specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, and other work for accuracy, presentation, and conformance with established construction/engineering practices and applicable codes and standards.
Perform field observations of construction projects to monitor progress and verify conformance to design drawings/specifications and applicable codes and standards.
Prepare detailed written reports of performed field observations identifying any deviation and non-conformance with the design drawings/specifications and applicable codes and standards.
Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor as requested by the Client in order to determine feasibility of the proposed retrofit and/or repair.
Attend various internal and external meetings regarding assigned projects or issues, and respond to questions and inquiries from various individuals, groups, organizations, or companies regarding a wide range of engineering topics and issues.
Strictly adheres to the office standards, policies and project schedules. Timely inform project manager and/or department head regarding any conflicts/issues that relate to his/her work.
Learning is a required assignment for all employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or documented combination of education and professional experience in a related engineering field.
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.
Possession of a registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT) via examination is preferred.
Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required.
Minimum Experience
0-2 years of pre-or-post degree work experience, which must have involved construction, design, inspection or estimating in either a professional or educational environment.
1+ year of forensic engineering is preferred.
