Director Of It & Business SystemsOur client is seeking a hands-on Director of IT & Business Systems to lead the evolution, security, and scalability of their IT infrastructure and enterprise systems. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends execution with enterprise-level thinking. They are looking for someone who enjoys working in the details and personally driving implementation, while also partnering closely with executive leadership on priorities and direction. This role is accountable for executing the company's IT and business systems initiatives across infrastructure, collaboration platforms, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and other enterprise tools, security, compliance, and systems integration. The span of control includes a small internal team, a third-party managed IT provider, and both on-premise and cloud environments. The ideal candidate is a motivated mid-career professional (approximately 1015 years of experience) who is ready to expand their scope and influence. As our client continues to scale, this role is expected to grow in responsibility and strategic impact.Essential Job Duties:Business Enablement & StrategyPartner with executive leadership to translate business strategy into actionable IT and business systems initiativesDevelop and execute a multi-year IT and systems roadmap/plan of record aligned with the company's 2030 strategic planOwn enterprise systems architecture and integration strategy (ERP, Deltek suite, collaboration platforms, compliance systems, and related tools)Serve as a thought partner to leaders on how technology can improve efficiency, execution, collaboration, and decision-makingManage lifecycle and governance of all software and hardware assets in collaboration with tool ownersModern Collaboration & ProductivityOwn, configure, and optimize collaboration and productivity platforms (e.g., M365, SharePoint, Teams, workflow tools) to include user training and monitoring utilization.Improve cross-functional information sharing, document management, and knowledge managementReduce friction, manual workarounds, and duplication through automation and system integrationDrive configuration, rollout, adoption, and continuous improvement initiativesAI & AutomationEvaluate AI and automation opportunities to improve engineering workflows, proposal generation, document management, and reportingEstablish governance and guardrails for responsible, secure AI adoptionEducate leaders and teams on practical, real-world AI applicationsSystems, Data & IntegrationImprove data visibility, reporting, and decision-support for leadershipReduce tool sprawl and improve interoperability across systemsTake a hands-on role in system configuration, integration, and data qualityIT Operations, Security & ComplianceLead a small IT team, setting priorities while remaining actively involved in executionManage third-party managed IT provider, assessors, and software vendorsMaintain strong cybersecurity and compliance posture aligned with government contracting and CMMC requirementsEstablish and maintain scalable IT policies, standards, and operating processesRequirements Experience and Expertise Required:1020 years of progressive experience in IT, business systems, or technology leadership rolesBackground operating within a government contracting environment (DoD and/or classified programs)Direct accountability for maintaining cybersecurity posture in regulated environments (CMMC, NIST 800-171, DFARS, ITAR, etc.)Ownership of enterprise IT environments (250+ users) spanning hybrid on-premise and cloud infrastructureTrack record leading major enterprise system implementations or upgrades (ERP, collaboration platforms, cybersecurity stack, etc.)Leadership of third-party managed service providers (MSPs) with defined SLAs and performance metricsResponsibility for IT budget planning, cost control, and vendor contract negotiationDevelopment and execution of multi-year IT roadmaps aligned with business strategyExperience operating within Microsoft GCC High M365 environments (certifications preferred)U.S. Citizenship requiredAbility and willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearancePreferred QualificationsPractical experience with AI, automation, and data tools in a business contextExperience with Deltek suite or comparable GovCon ERP platformsCertifications relevant to cloud, cybersecurity, or enterprise systemsBenefitsOur client is a recognized leader in advanced laser, lidar, and laser?communication technologies, delivering high?performance electro?optical solutions for defense, space, and aerospace missions.
