Outdoor Educator

Lead and instruct participants in all aspects of the Nature’s Classroom program, including: Hikes, Classes, Evening Activities, Large Group Activities, Teambuilding, Canoeing, Climbing Tower, as well as Low and High Challenge Course elements. Full-time, seasonal position, Fall Semester: Sept 11-Nov 22, 2024.Please apply via https://www.naturesclassroom.com/employment-application/Minimum QualificationsBe at least 21 years oldHave a Bachelor’s Degree in any subjectCertified in First Aid and CPR (or willing to get certified)Have verbal and auditory ability to communicateBe fluent and literate in EnglishHave physical fitness adequate for hiking through rough terrain and leading active classes and games for up to 14 hours a dayHave previous experience working with childrenUndergo a criminal background checkKnowledge & SkillBe able to prioritize the needs of participants and the program above personal needsHave a strong commitment to outdoor experiential educationBe creative, flexible, fun, and have good communication skillsUse personal talents and abilities to enhance the programHave a strong commitment to children and learningBe able to perform maintenance tasks and operate machinery, as neededResponsibilitiesBe on time or early for all meetings, Classes, activities, etc.Lead and instruct participants during hikes, Classes, Evening Activities, Large Group Activities, teambuilding, Canoeing, Climbing Tower, as well as Low and High Challenge Course elementsPlan and facilitate activities in a manner that promotes safety and success for all participantsObserve student behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniquesMaintain enthusiasm while instructing for up to 14 hours a dayAttend and participate in all staff meetingsCooperate with all other staff and visiting adults to complete tasks and support the goals of Nature’s ClassroomProject a positive company image at all times, on and off-siteRepresent Nature’s Classroom to participants, guests, and the public with kindness, integrity, and professionalismAssume responsibility for safety of participants and staffRespond to critical incidents and emergency situations in accordance with Nature’s Classroom policies and proceduresMaintain buildings, grounds, and program areas as directedReport liability situations to administration in a timely mannerAct as a liaison between adult participants and other staff, including: other teachers, administration, kitchen staff, maintenance staff, and housekeeping staffComplete any and all other tasks as assigned
