It addresses challenges related to the visibility, reach, and impact of scholarly work by partnering with researchers, institutions, societies, and internal stakeholders worldwide to support a more open and equitable publishing landscape.About the OpportunityThe Program Manager, OA Workflow Transformation will lead the delivery of strategic workflow, technology, and AI-enabled initiatives across the journal publishing lifecycle. This role is critical for improving operational efficiency, supporting organizational change, and ensuring transformation efforts result in measurable business outcomes by collaborating with multiple departments and external partners.Responsibilities• Design and manage the delivery of an AI-enabled workflow transformation roadmap.• Collaborate with Editorial, Production, Technology, Customer Service, and external vendors to set priorities and meet strategic goals.• Translate strategic objectives into clear business requirements, process designs, and implementation plans.• Coordinate cross-functional delivery by managing dependencies, risks, resources, and timelines.• Facilitate alignment among collaborators while balancing operational needs, technology resources, timelines, and budgets.• Oversee user acceptance testing, pilots, and phased implementation, incorporating feedback into solutions.• Lead change management and communication across all collaborator groups during implementation.• Provide regular updates to collaborators and senior leadership, highlighting progress and risks.• Establish and monitor key performance indicators related to program outcomes.• Evaluate program progress, incorporating feedback and emerging opportunities to refine the roadmap.Requirements• Experience in academic publishing with knowledge of editorial, peer review, or production workflows.• Proven success leading projects or programs with clear delivery outcomes.• Strong understanding of journal publishing systems, workflows, and system integrations; ScholarOne experience preferred.• Ability to translate business objectives into requirements and implementation plans.• Experience working with technology teams, vendors, and collaborators to deliver projects.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on efficiency and standardization.• Capability to manage competing priorities, risks, and expectations in complex environments.• Ability to influence and align teams without direct authority.• Experience with operational reporting and communicating performance data.• Interest or familiarity with AI-assisted workflows and emerging technologies in publishing operations.Pay Range and Compensation Package• The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.Benefits & Perks• PPO medical, dental, and vision care benefits with most premiums covered by the organization.• Company-sponsored anniversary trip every five years.• 401(k) matching program of 100% up to 5% of pay.• Financial support for bachelor’s and graduate-level degree programs and personal interest learning.• Flexible work arrangements including hybrid or remote options depending on the role.Equal Opportunity Statement: Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
