Position SummaryThe Logistics Merchandiser plays a critical role in coordinating transportation activities between customers, carriers, and the merchandising team. This position is responsible for dispatching loads, managing carrier relationships, evaluating route profitability, and ensuring efficient, cost-effective freight movement while maintaining high service standards for customers.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with the sales team to align customer schedules and transportation needsDispatch loads to carriers in accordance with customer timelinesServe as a primary contact for customers and carriers regarding logistics questionsBuild and maintain strong carrier relationships to optimize performance and capacityNegotiate freight rates to minimize costs for clientsEvaluate route profitability and identify improvements opportunitiesSupport efficient, timely, and accurate execution of freight movementQualifications & SkillsStrong communication and relationship-building skillsAbility to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environmentAnalytical mindset with the ability to evaluate route profitability and freight costsNegotiation skills and confidence working with carriers and vendorsDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (preferred)Understanding of transportation, trucking, or logistics operations (preferred, but not required)What Success Looks Like in This RoleLoads are dispatched efficiently and on timeCustomers and carriers feel supported, informed, and valuedFreight costs are controlled while maintaining strong carrier relationshipsRoutes are regularly reviewed and optimized for profitabilityThe logistics operation runs smoothly with minimal disruption
