Substation Electrician - $39.53 to $60.81

POSITION SUMMARYUnder general supervision, this position installs, repairs, and replaces electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of Moorhead Public Service’s (MPS’) machinery and equipment, to ensure power is supplied to all internal and external clients without disruption.JOB DUTIES OR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs high voltage substation inspections and maintenance on transformers, switches, oil circuit breakers, metalclad switchgear, relays, controls, and meters. Installs, replaces, repairs, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical systems in the water plant, generation plant, and other utility locations. Installs, replaces, repairs, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA). Operates switches and breakers inside substations. Assists with the installation and testing of electric meters. Maintains boilers in MPS’ Water Treatment Plant. Inspects and approves dual-heating installations. Attends and participates in job safety and training programs. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience, and training required.EducationAssociate’s degree or equivalent electrician training at a technical or vocational school.ExperienceUp to two (2) years of Master Electrician experience, including entry-level (0) experience.Trainings, Certificates, Licenses, And Other Requirements Master Electrician Class A License. Driver’s license valid in the state of Minnesota.
