This role focuses on hands on engineering, platform reliability, and feature delivery within established architectural frameworks. The Senior Engineer will contribute to network and WiFi design, platform security, and operational excellence while collaborating closely with peer engineers, product partners, and operations teams to deliver secure, high performance customer experiences at scale.Job DescriptionThis role is based in our downtown Philadelphia Comcast Technology Center.In this role, you will contribute to platform architecture and product development for Xfinity WiFi and adjacent connectivity services. Responsibilities include designing and operating highly available services, supporting complex L2/L3 networking and WiFi architectures, contributing to F5 BIG‑IP engineering initiatives, and ensuring secure, reliable platform operation.You will work within established technical strategies, contribute to system design and implementation, participate in testing and certification efforts, and support continuous improvement of network performance and reliability. As a senior individual contributor, you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners and provide guidance to junior engineers through knowledge sharing and mentorship.ResponsibilitiesContribute to the design, implementation, and operation of high availability and geo redundant WiFi platforms and servicesDesign, deploy, and maintain complex L2/L3 networking and WiFi architectures in large scale environmentsEngineer and support F5 BIG IP technologies (LTM, DNS/GTM, WAF) to enable reliable traffic management and securitySupport the engineering and operations of a nationwide hotspot network serving millions of customer sessionsImplement platform security best practices, including service hardening, mTLS/PKI usage, and secure API integrationsParticipate in observability efforts across systems, including metrics, logging, alerting, and troubleshootingPerform performance analysis, capacity planning, and failure testing in partnership with operations teamsParticipate in system and architecture reviews, providing practical, implementation focused feedbackCollaborate with product, platform, and partner engineering teams (e.g., RDK, Connected Living) to deliver new capabilitiesContribute to testing, validation, and certification activities as requiredMentor junior engineers and support the development of team technical skills and best practicesDemonstrate operational rigor, clear communication, and a strong sense of ownership for delivered solutionsQualifications7–10 years of experience in IP networking, WiFi, or distributed systems engineeringStrong working knowledge of IP networking technologies (IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, NAT)Hands on experience supporting F5 BIG IP solutions (LTM, DNS/GTM, WAF) in production environmentsSolid understanding of WiFi technologies including 802.11 standards, WPA2/WPA3, Passpoint/Hotspot 2.0, roaming, RADIUS, and EAPExperience designing, deploying, or operating highly available and secure networked systemsPractical experience applying security best practices across network and platform layersBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience Preferred QualificationsExperience working in containerized or cloud native environments (Kubernetes, service mesh, etc.)Familiarity with infrastructure as code and automation tools (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines)Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetryExposure to performance engineering concepts such as load testing and capacity planningStrong collaboration skills and experience working with cross functional engineering and product teamsEffective written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences Disclaimer: This information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this role.
