Principal Structural Engineer
Job Description
We’re recruiting a Principal Structural Engineer to join our Structures team within the Building Engineering Unit, delivering a wide range of projects across the built environment.
Our teams are involved in every stage of a project, from initial feasibility studies and concept designs to detailed design, structural assessments, inspections, and construction support. The work covers both building and heavy civil projects, with a particular focus on the defence and commercial sectors.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, working alongside engineers, technicians, and other specialists to deliver technically challenging and innovative solutions for our clients. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects, develop your skills, and contribute to the growth of a dynamic and ambitious team.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Lead structural engineering projects and ensure successful delivery across commercial and defence sectors.
Engage with clients to define requirements, present proposals, and report progress.
Manage commercial, technical, and managerial aspects of projects, supervising engineers and technicians.
Perform structural analyses, calculations, and produce design reports independently.
Continuously learn new skills and consider wider engineering implications in all projects.

Qualifications
Requirements:
Degree educated or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering; Chartered with IStructE or ICE; strong analysis and technical skills.
Demonstrable track record in project delivery or significant contribution to project success; ability to deliver design solutions and lead teams.
Ability to obtain MOD security clearance & driving licence required.
Knowledge of Eurocode. Experience in heavy civil structural projects and/or seismically qualified structures is advantageous.
Lead structural engineering projects, engage with clients, manage commercial and technical aspects, supervise teams, and produce independent design reports while considering wider engineering implications.
