This position is within an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/IDD) setting and focuses on supporting individuals with medically complex needs while ensuring effective communication, safety, dignity, and quality of life./ppOnly candidates who are fluent in ASL will be interviewed./ph3Available Shifts/h3ulliDay Shift: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM/liliEvening Shift: 4:00 PM 12:00 AM/liliOvernight Shift: 12:00 AM 8:00 AM/li/ulh3Who Should Apply?/h3pThis position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in healthcare, including:/pulliAre fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)/liliHave experience or interest in working with individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing/liliLPN or RN students looking for direct patient care experience/liliMedical Assistant students or Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) seeking to expand their skills/liliIndividuals with experience in nursing homes, home healthcare, or assisted living facilities/liliAnyone passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities and improving their quality of life/li/ulh3Essential Responsibilities/h3ulliASL Communication Support Communicate directly with individuals using American Sign Language to support daily needs, emotional expression, healthcare coordination, and community engagement./liliAssist individuals with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, transfers, and mobility support./liliAdminister routine morning wake-up and nighttime hygiene care./liliProvide perineal care and assistance with showers./liliOffer mouth, skin, hair, and nail care./liliAssist individuals in using adaptive devices for ADLs./li/ulh3Health Medical Assistance/h3ulliMonitor health conditions and assisted with medication per policy./liliSupport with medical treatments, including tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, and oxygen therapy./liliParticipate in turning and repositioning routines and other skin care prevention protocols./liliInspect skin regularly and report any issues to the RN./liliUse pressure-relieving devices under the direction of an RN./li/ulh3Meals/h3ulliPrepare individuals for meals and provide hygiene before and after./liliFeed or assist with feeding as needed./liliProvide fresh drinking water regularly./liliAccurately record intake and output, as well as totals, by the end of the shift./li/ulh3Elimination Needs/h3ulliAssist with toileting and hygiene after use./liliMeasure and record urine output and other elimination accurately./liliDocument elimination totals at end of shift./li/ulh3Safety/h3ulliProvide assistance and periodic observation to prevent falls./liliImmediately report unsafe conditions./liliAdhere to established policies and procedures regarding the use of restraints./liliPerform assigned equipment checks and report malfunctions promptly./liliParticipate in routine safety checks, toileting, turning, and repositioning./li/ulh3Emotional Behavioral Support/h3ulliImplement behavior support plans and provide companionship./li/ulh3Household Safety Management/h3ulliMaintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment./liliPrepare meals tailored to individual dietary needs./liliFollow infection control procedures./li/ulh3Community Engagement Skill Development/h3ulliSupport participation in social, recreational, and skill-building activities./li/ulh3Documentation Compliance/h3ulliMaintain accurate records of daily care in Therap./liliAdhere to ICF/IDD regulations and HIPAA guidelines./li/ulh3Customer Service/h3ulliDemonstrate tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity with individuals, families, and staff./liliMaintain confidentiality and professionalism./liliUse clear, concise verbal communication./liliKeep open communication with peers and escalate concerns to supervisors as needed./li/ulh3Qualifications Requirements/h3ulliEducation: A high school diploma or GED is required (CNA, DSP, or healthcare-related training preferred)./liliFluency in American Sign Language is required./liliASL certification or formal ASL training preferred, not required.
