What We Are Looking For:
We're looking for a Senior Software Developer (Emergency Services) to join our team who gets things done and is capable of being a leader on our ES software development team. We're seeking somebody who is a maker, a hacker, and a software artisan. If your idea of fun is losing track of time while geeking out over new web frameworks, backend languages, or AI tools we'd like to talk to you.
What You'll Do:
You're gonna write great code and lots of it. You'll be a senior member of an agile software development team, and a leading voice in your team's design and implementation efforts. You'll collaborate with peers to build and refactor code that is both readable and reliable due to its inherent lack of complexity. You'll also look critically at what we're building and how we're building it, you'll mentor, challenge the status quo, and you'll originate ideas and activities that advance our craft.
What You Need:
If you're our person, you probably look like this:
While years of experience is an imperfect measure, you've probably been a software engineer for 4+ years
You have deep expertise in Java and Java framework ecosystems
You're passionate about writing testable code, and your non-complex test automation proves it
You have experience designing web services and service-oriented architectures
You know IP networking, web protocols, and REST
You're familiar with relational and non-relational database systems
You use AI tools for fun, to learn, and to enhance your work
You're passionate about the craft of software engineering
Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions & IaC, with deployments and integrations on AWS.
Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, with a solid grasp of scalable cloud application architecture.
Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures
Experience mentoring and reviewing code
You want to help your teammates succeed
Bonus Points:
Wow, it'd be really cool if:
You enjoy working the whole stack
You want to own all aspects of our app including the front-end, back-end, and underlying systems
You're familiar with developing enterprise applications
You have worked with Docker containers and Kubernetes or even OpenShift
Experience with performance tuning and JVM optimization
Experience mentoring junior developers and participating in technical design reviews
You have built AI Agents and understand agentic development
The Whole Person Promise:

All new hires receive four weeks of PTO.
PTO Embargo. When you take time off (of any kind!) you're embargoed from working. Bandmates and managers are not allowed to interrupt your PTO – not even with email.
Additional PTO can be earned throughout the year through volunteer hours and Bandwidth challenges.
"Mahalo moments" program grants additional time off for life's most important moments like graduations, buying a first home, getting married, wedding anniversaries (every five years), and the birth of a grandchild.
90-Minute Workout Lunches and unlimited meetings with our very own nutritionist.
Are you excited about the position and its responsibilities, but not sure if you're 100% qualified? Do you feel you can work to help us crush the mission? If you answered 'yes' to both of these questions, we encourage you to apply! You won't want to miss the opportunity to be a part of the BAND.
