A Cloud / Infrastructure Engineer is able to apply fundamental IT principles to infrastructure development and management that enables modern software operations in portable cloud platforms.Essential DutiesWork with cloud infrastructure providers to manage environments and best-practicesIaC: develop scripts and configuration for repeatable deployment of software and systemsAid with infrastructure and systems design and developmentApply understanding of IT fundamentals to complement software projects (load balancing, DNS, TLS, virtualization)Participate in DevOps infrastructure automationEnforce security principles and practicesWork together with Platform and AppDev personnel to design, deploy, operate, and improve software and systemsEstimate infrastructure and systems costs, and enforce resource budgetsDevelop and document operational and support processesEducation RequirementsTechnical or project management expertise must be documented in the form of academic degrees or other documented credentialsBachelor's degree in IT-related fieldOR equivalent experienceCloud Native Computing foundation certifications are a plusSpecial SkillsWe provide a list of technologies as a reference, but we are ultimately looking for traits and skills that are complementary to our team and the markets we serve. Candidates should be able to communicate thoughtfully about some of the following (or related) technologies and have sound technical fundamentals that enable them to adopt new capabilities with ease.Proficiency is desired in some of the following technical areas:Data storage concepts, NAS and SANCompliance frameworks and requirementsOpen source projects (e.g. openLeap, Uyuni)Kubernetes and other container orchestration conceptsVirtualization and operating system managementCloud platforms - mainstream (AWS/Azure/GCP)Cloud platforms - alternative (Heroku, DigitalOcean, Linode)Self-managed and bare-metal machine and cloud managementContent Distribution Networks and methodologiesMachine and operating system management (e.g. SUSE Manager, Ansible)
