Other duties may be assigned and required.Keep direct reports focused and on task to meet department objectivesEnsure daily pre-shift meetings and other communication tools are used effectivelyCarry out and implement the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpowerKnow and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job functionCommunicate with Production Manager(s) about production concerns and provide status reports as appropriateRemove problems to ensure production requirements and customer demands are metPromote accountability by providing formal and informal performance feedback to associates; conduct formal performance evaluations that are tied to plant and company goals; utilize individual corrective action plans if necessaryProvide training to associates, develop them through coaching and mentoring, and provide recognition when warrantedApply consistent and fair progressive discipline to associates when necessary and discuss such action with appropriate personnelEnsure all documentation is maintained, including associate documentationLead the department in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principlesUse reasonable means to require all associates to comply with safety policies and rules and enforce through a system of effective accountability that may include progressive disciplineEnsure associates have a workplace free from recognized hazards which are or may cause serious physical harm; must comply with Occupational Safety and Health standards applicable to Magna Body & Chassis IowaAssist in conducting accident/incident investigations and implement corrective action where necessaryConduct monthly safety inspections and implement corrective action where necessarySupport efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion SurveyFollow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa’s and Magna’s operating principles and display the company’s core values on a regular and consistent basisSupervisory Responsibilities: Direct/Indirect production associates on assigned shift and areaEducation And/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredMinimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferredKnowledge, Skills And AbilitiesExcellent organizational skills to conduct multiple tasks simultaneouslyProficient in computer operations, ability to grasp new software quicklyMust exhibit high integrity, honesty and confidentialityAbility to obtain and maintain a forklift and crane certificationAbility to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, requirements and business correspondencesAbility to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groupsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to remain positive even under pressureMay be required to adjust shifts as necessaryPhysical DemandsAs identified in the Area Leader functional job descriptionEnvironmental ConditionsGeneral factory environmentAwareness, Unity, EmpowermentAt Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
