ob Title: Part-Time Cook Department: Dietary Services Reports To: Dietary Manager / Executive Director Position Summary The Part-Time Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents in a personal care facility in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, food safety standards, and state regulations. The Cook supports resident satisfaction, health, and safety through proper food handling and meal presentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare meals and snacks according to approved menus, recipes, and portion guidelines Accommodate special diets as ordered (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, mechanical soft, pureed) Ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule Maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, holding, and service Follow all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper hand hygiene Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas after use Properly store food items according to facility policy and food safety guidelines Assist with inventory control, labeling, and rotation of food supplies (FIFO) Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or supply needs to the Dietary Manager Work cooperatively with dietary staff, nursing, and other departments Comply with facility policies, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Prior cooking experience in healthcare, assisted living, or institutional setting preferred Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices Ability to follow written menus and dietary instructions Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as scheduled Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods Required Certifications / Clearances Pennsylvania background check, child abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprinting (if applicable) TB screening per facility policy Skills and Abilities Strong attention to cleanliness and detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Compassionate attitude toward elderly residents Effective time management and organization skills Work Schedule Part-time position Hours and days vary based on facility needs Job Type: Part-time Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week Benefits: Paid sick time Paid time off Paid training Work Location: In person
