Join the world's largest HVAC company, named by Forbes as one of America's Best-In-State Employers 2025!Daikin Applied is seeking a Sr. Designer who will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs and product configurators. The Designer will support the sustaining team focused on existing product lines and will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation, assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost have been considered. Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MNWhat you will do:Create engineering documentation, including Solidworks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standardsTranslate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing working 3D layouts, detailed documentation and Bill of Materials and configuratorsWork with VAVE/Product Engineers and Production Engineers to provide 3D models and documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current productsExhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness through incorporation into design and configurator workProvide accurate estimates of tasks on projects and execute to your estimate. Work with project management to consume and communicate additional work estimates as neededGain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products.Demonstrate an understanding of all current and legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logicBe part of and function in a team environment including cross-functional and inter-departmental teamsMentor less experienced drafters and designers within the teamPotentially travel to other Daikin Minnesota or Mexico facilities as needed up to 10% of the timeWhat's in it for you:The ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growthThe support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our bestMinimum Qualifications:Vocational, Technical, or Associate of Applied Science degree in design/drafting AND 5+ years of related design experience. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or similar) + 3 years of related design experience will be consideredIntermediate Excel skillsProfessional work experience with manufacturing practices and processes and product configurations, including basic logic for product or design selection.Professional experience using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD toolsUnderstanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logicWork visa sponsorship is not available for this positionPreferred Qualifications:Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired.Experience with variable geometry parts and configurator logic is desired.5+ years of related design experienceBenefits:Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance401K retirement plan with employer matchPaid time off and company paid holidaysPaid sick time in accordance with the federal, state and local lawTuition Reimbursement after 6 months of continuous serviceThe typical salary for these positions range from $28.60/hr. to $50.76/hr. in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade.
