Controls Technician

Role Details Site: North Kansas City, MO Status: Full-Time Pay Rate: $25.00-$40.00/hour Role Summary We are looking for a dedicated and technically proficient Controls Technician to handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of process instrumentation and electrical control systems within the water and wastewater sectors. This position is perfect for a self-motivated professional who thrives in dynamic field environments and enjoys tackling complex technical challenges. You will be responsible for managing a variety of hardware, ranging from standard pump controllers and electrical panels to sophisticated VFDs and specialty instrumentation. Key Duties Provide expert maintenance and service for electrical control hardware utilized in water and wastewater facilities. Ensure optimal system performance by installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting various process instruments like flow, level, and pressure sensors. Support the team by performing repairs, retrofits, and startups on pump control equipment, including soft starters and VFDs, to ensure reliable operations. Execute electrical wiring tasks, including conduit installation and control panel configuration, to support infrastructure needs. Contribute to the design, repair, and installation of electrical systems to improve overall facility functionality. Deliver high-quality field support by accurately diagnosing equipment malfunctions for our clients. Act as an emergency responder for field service calls, which includes availability for travel and off-hours support as necessary. Keep stakeholders and management informed through consistent updates regarding service progress and repair requirements. Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by strictly adhering to all safety protocols and customer guidelines. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Technical training or vocational schooling in electrical or electronic systems is strongly desired. Proven track record in diagnosing and resolving issues within electrical control systems. Background working with pump controls, VFDs, and process instrumentation is considered a significant asset. Flexibility to travel, work overtime, and handle emergency service requests as the business demands. Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities to ensure excellent customer service. Ability to remain agile and dependable while managing shifting priorities in a high-pressure setting. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Gmail. Capacity to operate independently or contribute effectively as part of a larger technical team. Physical capability to safely handle, lift, and maneuver the tools and materials necessary to complete job tasks.
