Phlebotomist

Job Title: PhlebotomistJob DescriptionThe Inpatient Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood draws, including venipuncture and capillary punctures, as well as accessioning and processing specimens. This role requires the ability to perform all phases of blood collection within normal time limits and to adapt phlebotomy techniques for patients of all age groups, from infancy through adulthood.Responsibilities+ Perform blood drawing procedures such as venipuncture and capillary punctures.+ Accession and process specimens accurately and efficiently.+ Ensure timely completion of blood collections, considering patient age and condition.+ Work independently during early morning runs, including weekends.+ Cover morning runs with a current patient census of 50 between 4:00 AM and 9:00 AM.+ Handle high-volume blood draws efficiently.Essential Skills+ Proficiency in phlebotomy, acute care, and pediatric blood draws.+ Experience with venipuncture and blood draw procedures.+ Inpatient care experience, with at least two years in an acute care hospital.+ Familiarity with Sunquest information systems and Epic laboratory systems.+ Excellent customer service skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ California State CPT certification required.+ BLS AHA certification.+ Approximately two years of inpatient experience preferred.+ Neonatal experience strongly preferred.+ Comfortable with high-volume draws.+ Familiarity with AIDET / AHEART patient-care standards preferred.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in an inpatient setting with 510 beds, primarily covering weekend morning runs from 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Candidates should be open to variable shifts and able to provide coverage up to seven days a week if needed. The environment involves high-volume morning draws with a typical patient census of around 50. Currently, the facility uses Sunquest systems but will transition to Epic within a year.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Whittier, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
