Lead DevOps Engineer

Sunbird (www.sunbirddcim.com), an established leader in Data Center Infrastructure Management, is looking for a Lead Development Operations Engineer to provide their expertise in Kubernetes\OpenShift and Containerization as we scale out our solution. Our award-winning web-based solutions help our customers understand and manage energy consumption, environmental conditions, and assets in their facilities.Current Application Stack: Angular, Tomcat, Rails, ActiveMQ, Redis, and PostgreSQLEssential Duties And ResponsibilitiesLead both the migration of our solution to containers and the overall design and implementation for container orchestrators such as OpenShift, Kubernetes and Amazon EKSCreate and maintain docker files, manifest files, and HELM Charts for different environments\orchestratorsManage builds and deploymentsDeploy new clusters from scratch and upgrade\maintain existing onesLead junior team members effectivelyWork closely with our cross-functional team to achieve scalability and reliability objectivesProvide support as our customers roll the solution out to their environmentsEffectively troubleshoot operating system issues, configuration problems, authentication errors, and related software defectsAutomate operations such as backup estores, deployments, and upgradesFollow security best practicesIdentify potential technical obstacles and come up with solutionsEvaluate third party technologies to make recommendations for architecture roadmapAbility to keep up with industry trends and innovationFollow Sunbird’s software development process to participate in full software development life cycleQualificationsRed Hat Certified OpenShift Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Administrator or similar4+ years of hands-on experience on Kubernetes or OpenShift and have been involved all facets of configuration and deployments in prior positionsExpert on Containerization (Docker preferred)Experience in Continuous Integration / Continuous Development (CI/CD) (Jenkins/Nexus/GitHub)7+ years of professional experienceStrong communication skillsCreative, industrious, self-managedExcels when working as part of a small, highly skilled, agile teamBS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fieldDesired Knowledge And SkillsA candidate with a mix of the following experiences will be at an advantage:Experience in Java, Tomcat and database configurationsAdvanced knowledge of Linux system administrationKnowledge in the administration and performance tuning of web/application servers (e.g. Tomcat, Puma, Itsio, NGINX)Development experience in Perl, Ruby, and\or JavaAWSExperience maintaining servers, IT infrastructure and other equipment in a server roomExperience in the day-to-day operations of a data center environment, particularly as it relates to planning and infrastructure managementWhy Sunbird?We are all about delighting our clients and live/breathe the end client/user experienceWe believe in collaboration, teamwork, creativity and taking initiativeInterested?
