DevOps Engineer
Overview
As a DevOps Engineer, you design and operate secure, scalable automation for both on‑premises and cloud environments. You’ll work with software and DevOps peers to build robust CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and observability while embedding security into daily workflows. You’ll ensure mission‑critical apps remain reliable, secure, and compliant. This role offers hands‑on impact across hybrid infrastructure in a defense/transport context and opportunities to drive automation at scale.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy, and maintain secure automation infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code across on‑premises and cloudConfigure and manage configuration management for consistency across servers and applicationsBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines and artifact repositories for both on‑prem and cloudApply security best practices, compliance standards, and hardening including access management and audit loggingDevelop observability solutions (monitoring, logging, alerting) for on‑prem and cloud systemsCollaborate to foster a security‑first DevSecOps culture and use automation to improve consistency and scalabilityTroubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and provisioning issues across development, staging, and production environments
Key requirements5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar, or 3+ years with a Master’s degreeOn‑Prem Infrastructure & Linux: VMware ESXi, PXE boot, Kickstart, strong Linux admin (RHEL & Ubuntu), system hardeningCloud Platforms & IaC: AWS services (EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, Route 53, VPC, Security Hub); Terraform and/or CloudFormation; Ansible or Chef; scalable, secure, resilient designCI/CD & Automation: AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, self‑hosted runners; scripting in Python, Bash; artifact repositories (Nexus, S3); lifecycle managementMonitoring/Logging/Alerting: Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch, Graylog; dashboards and centralized logs; alertingSecurity & Access Control: least‑privilege, identity management, audit logging; ability to obtain a security clearanceProblem‑solvingCommunicationCollaborationVMware ESXiPXEKickstart
