Part-Time Academic Math Tutor (In-Person, High School)

Job Description POSITION OVERVIEWShining Students Tutoring is hiring a part-time, in-person Academic Math Tutor to work with high school students in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. This role is ideal for educators seeking consistent evening hours, structured training, and the opportunity to build a stable caseload through the school year. There is the potential to transition to a full-time position, dependent on job performance and client need.Schedule: 5–20 hours/week; In-person; Sunday availability requiredLocation: Huntley, ILPay: $25–$35/hr (after training; paid training provided)ABOUT SHINING STUDENTS TUTORINGShining Students Tutoring is a locally owned, home-based tutoring business committed to fostering strong relationships, delivering personalized instruction, and maintaining a supportive team environment. Our tutors strengthen foundational skills while supporting students’ current coursework, helping students build confidence and achieve academic success.HOURS AND SCHEDULEIn-person tutoring sessions are held:- Monday–Thursday: 3:00–9:30 PM- Sunday: 1:00–9:00 PMTutors must commit to 5–10 hours per week, including a minimum of 4 hours on Sunday.COMPENSATIONDuring the training/probationary period, tutors work in an assistive capacity and earn $22–$26 per hour. After training, tutors may transition to an independent caseload and earn $25–$35 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor’s degree (or currently in student teaching)- Ability to tutor Prealgebra through Algebra II- Minimum of one year of education or tutoring experience- Comfortable using Chrome, Google Workspace, and Zoom- Available on Sundays- Reliable transportation to Huntley, IL- Two or three professional referencesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master’s degree- ACT and/or SAT test prep experience- Ability and willingness to tutor K–8 math and ELA- Familiarity with OneNote, Schoology, PowerSchool, or Canvas- Multidisciplinary teaching experience- Spanish language proficiencyCompany DescriptionShining Students Tutoring is a locally owned, home-based tutoring business committed to fostering strong relationships, delivering personalized instruction, and maintaining a supportive team environment.
