Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.What are we looking for?A Construction Technician is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. The ideal candidate will be willing to travel in the local region to various projects, specifically in the West Texas area with experience in concrete testing, nuclear and density testing.In addition to competitive compensation packages, when working with Intertek you can expect benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more.What you’ll do:Performs a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled proceduresOperates testing equipment and conducts testing (example: Soil, concrete or other) and provides assessment of data through reportingWorks utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagramsUses specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasksMakes detailed observations and gives limited interpretation of resultsMaintains detailed documentation and data from test resultsOperates a calculator to calculate mathematical test resultsCommunicates effectively with client and project teamsMust be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at workThis position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredValid Driver's License and reliable driving record is requiredMust be willing to travel overnight, 25% requiredEffective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are requiredExternal (or task related) certifications based on region and state may be requiredBasic math, calculator, and computer skills are requiredThe ability to read and understand work plans is requiredMust be able to work off shift and overtime as neededPreferred Requirements & Qualifications:2 years' work experience in constructionPrevious construction materials testing experienceThird party certifications related to construction material testing (ACI, ICC, and/or Asphalt Certifications) Intertek: Total Quality.
