The Program Manager supports the design, implementation, and monitoring of the Educator Preparation Program (EPP) for Alternative Certification. This position ensures that teacher candidates are provided high-quality training, coaching, and support aligned with state standards, Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations, and the goals of the Education Service Center (ESC) and partnering districts. Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Education Leadership, or related field (required) Master's degree in Education or related field (required); Doctorate (preferred) Valid Texas teaching certificate; mid-management/Principal certification (required) Experience: At least 3-5 years of successful teaching experience, experience as a school administrator or instructional coach Experience in a university education preparation program Knowledge of T-TESS appraisal system, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and high-quality instructional practices. Experience working with adult learners, teacher candidates, or professional development facilitation. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet compliance deadlines. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Assist in the coordination and implementation of the EPP to ensure compliance with 19 TAC Chapter 228 and ASEP accountability requirements Maintain accurate candidate records, certification progress, and documentation in TEA systems (e.g., ECOS, ASEP reporting) Monitor candidate progress, assessments, and completion timelines to ensure compliance with TEA guidelines Candidate Support: Serve as a field supervisor for assigned teacher candidates, conducting required classroom observations and providing written/oral feedback aligned to T-TESS and best instructional practices Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities for teacher candidates to ensure success in their internship/residency Facilitate candidate seminars, trainings, and workshops in areas such as classroom management, lesson planning, pedagogy, and content-specific strategies Collaborate with partnering districts, principals, and mentor teachers to support candidate placements, growth, and evaluation Participate in district/site visits, partnership meetings, and stakeholder communications to strengthen EPP relationships.
