Mechanical Design Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)Location: US RemoteAbout the Opportunity:Our client is a rapidly growing technology company developing large-scale energy infrastructure to support next-generation AI and data center operations. They are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to help design and deploy industry-leading Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).Responsibilities:Design mechanical systems for containerized Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).Develop and validate thermal management and cooling solutions for battery enclosures.Support mechanical integration, equipment layouts, service access, and safety requirements.Evaluate vendor equipment and provide technical design reviews.Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams through design, testing, and field deployment.Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvements.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Experience designing BESS, power electronics, or thermally critical enclosure systems.Strong understanding of thermal management and cooling system design.Experience supporting products through testing and field deployment.Knowledge of NFPA 855 or similar battery storage standards.Experience reviewing vendor designs and technical documentation.Preferred Experience:Lithium-ion battery systemsCFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)Fire suppression systemsUtility-scale BESS projectsData center or mission-critical cooling infrastructureThis is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing engineering team delivering cutting-edge energy infrastructure supporting the future of AI and high-performance computing.
