About the Role Eastern Landscape Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for high-profile public sector landscape construction projects across New Jersey and the New York metro area. This is a key leadership position for a motivated professional who understands how to manage crews, coordinate logistics, and deliver results on large-scale planting and sitework projects.
We specialize in municipal and agency work - parks, green infrastructure, and public right-of-way improvements, and we're looking for someone who can confidently oversee all aspects of landscape construction in the field.
Key Responsibilities Supervise and lead field crews on public landscape construction projects
Interpret and work from civil and landscape plans, specifications, and contracts
Coordinate daily schedules and manage short-term lookaheads
Procure materials and manage vendor buy-outs
Track labor, materials, and job costs daily to maintain profit goals
Prepare and submit monthly payment requisitions and assist with collections
Manage change orders and support project closeout processes
Finalize quantities and maintain supporting documentation
Ensure compliance with OSHA/SST and all safety standards
Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, vendors, and agency reps
Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience as a superintendent in landscape or site construction
Experience managing public projects in New Jersey and New York (including NYC, Orange, Rockland, and Putnam Counties)
Proficient in interpreting drawings, specs, and contract documents
Familiarity with submittals, agency documentation, and project closeouts
Strong understanding of job costing and project scheduling
OSHA 40/SST certified
Software proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Salesforce, and Office 365
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
