Assistant Port Engineer / Maintenance Analyst
Job SummaryThis pivotal role supports vessel maintenance operations, technical management, and computerized maintenance system administration for a fleet of ocean-going vessels. Combining hands-on port engineering support with maintenance tracking and reporting, this position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with a marine engineering background to grow within shore-side vessel operations and technical management.ResponsibilitiesSupport the Port Engineer with maintenance, repair, and technical oversight of assigned vesselsAssist with preventive and corrective maintenance planning for vessel machinery and equipmentManage and maintain vessel data within computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Track maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts inventory, and technical documentationGenerate maintenance and operational reports to support contractual and operational requirementsConduct vessel inspections and assist in identifying maintenance priorities and operational deficienciesCoordinate with vessel crews, vendors, contractors, and shipyard personnel regarding maintenance activitiesAssist with troubleshooting technical issues and minimizing vessel downtimeSupport compliance with company safety management systems and regulatory requirementsMaintain accurate maintenance records, repair histories, and equipment hierarchy documentationRequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering or related technical discipline preferredSailing experience aboard commercial ocean-going vessels strongly preferredUSCG engineering license preferred (Chief Engineer, First Assistant Engineer, or Second Assistant Engineer)Experience with computerized maintenance management systems such as ABS NS5, NS Enterprise, AMOS, or similar platformsStrong technical understanding of vessel machinery systems and shipboard operationsExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneouslyStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database/reporting systemsAbility to work independently within a fast-paced operational environmentTWIC credential required or ability to obtain oneAbility to obtain or maintain U.S. government security clearance may be required
