At ThayerMahan we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth.ThayerMahan Ocean Technologies is looking for a Deputy Director of Programs.This position is in Groton, CT and is full-time on-site.The primary responsibility will be the delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions. The individual will lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals.ResponsibilitiesDeputy Program Directors are responsible for managing all phases of the program life cycle from inception (proposal development) through startup, execution, and completion (contract closeout). Primary responsibilities are the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems and include, but are not limited to:Leading and directing cross-functional Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule and technical performance objectivesMeasuring and reporting program performanceDelivering presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholdersParticipating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, milestones schedule, and key terms and conditionsEstablishing design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and testIdentifying, allocating and managing program resources, including workforce planningManaging Government/customer supplied property or information (GFE, CFE, etc.)Managing suppliers to meet program objectivesEnsuring program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activitiesDevelopment and adherence to master plans and schedulesConducting thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realizationBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree and 6 years, or master’s degree and 4 years of experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industriesProven experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account managerDemonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPointWilling and able to travel up to 15% of the timeAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearanceUS citizenship is requiredPreferred QualificationsExperience interfacing with DoW/USN customersMaritime industry leadership experienceExperience conducting or managing operations at seaSignificant customer and senior (VP level) management engagement experienceBenefits Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) plan with company match.Paid time off and holidays.Professional development opportunities.What We OfferCompetitive salary, comprehensive total rewards package (medical, dental, vision, 401K with employer match), and other great benefits.
