OverviewDecontaminate, clean, process, and sterilize supplies and equipment dispensed by the department, following infection control practices and guidelines.ResponsibilitiesFollows manufacturer instructions for use for steam and low temperature sterilizationFollows manufacturer instructions for use for decontamination, disinfection of instruments, and flexible endoscopes according to department standards and industry guidelinesDemonstrates knowledge of surgical instrument kitsDemonstrates knowledge of how to properly inspect and assemble kitsAdheres to hospital policies for CSR as well as follow AAMI guidelines (Association for the Advancement of Medical InstrumentsPerforms equipment testing: Bowies and Biologicals, and reports any abnormal results to the supervisorDelivery of sterile instruments and kits in a timely manner, within 48 hours, to other departments within the hospitalMaintains a clean work environment in accordance to regulator guidelines and hospital policy. Damp dusting horizontal surfaces, end of day cleaning, removal of trash and laundryAttends staff meetings and in servicesStays up to date on departmental communication and required annual and periodical competenciesParticipates in orientation of new staff as neededCompletes other daily tasks as requested and assignedPerforms job specific requirements and other duties as assignedAnswer the phone and take messages when neededHelp with different reps that come in with trays or help with them taking trays outHelp the OR when they are looking for a kit or instrumentQualifications* High school diploma or GEDRequired Licensure/CertificationsREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:* Central Sterile certification required within 2 years of hire. To be obtained through CBSPD.
