Primary Purpose:To support implementation of district early childhood and early literacy programs and initiatives (Fifth and Fourth Grade).QualificationsEducation/Certification:Master's Degree from an accredited university with emphasis in reading preferredMaster Reading Teacher Certification preferredValid Texas Teaching CertificateGT and ESL Certificate preferredSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Reading background and dyslexia experience preferredWorking knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff developmentAbility to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectivenessStrong organization, communication, and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of Guidelines and TEKS for 5-6Knowledge of rules and regulations for public schoolKnowledge of best practices in development in literacyKnowledge of research-based balanced literacy programsExperience:Five years successful classroom teaching experience in literacy requiredClassroom experience at both upper elementary levels and secondary preferredExperience with planning and presenting staff development presentations requiredExperience in development of literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment programsrequiredWorking Conditions:Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
