Art Teacher
Art Teacher (PreK–5) – Part-Time (1 Day per Week)Fayette Central School has an opening for a part-time Art Teacher. FCS is a small rural elementary school in Fayette, located approximately 15 miles west of Augusta. We serve approximately 65 students in grades PreK–5. This is a one day per week, school-year position.The Art Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate visual arts instruction to students in PreK through grade 5. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, self-expression, and skill development while creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and implement standards-based art lessons for students in PreK–5Teach fundamental art concepts and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed mediaEncourage creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expressionDifferentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learnersIntegrate art history, cultural connections, and cross-curricular opportunities when appropriateMaintain and organize art materials and suppliesDisplay student artwork throughout the school to celebrate learningEstablish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environmentCollaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support student growthQualificationsMaine Teaching Certification with Art endorsement (or eligibility)Experience working with elementary-aged students preferredKnowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practicesStrong classroom management and organizational skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsFlexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for working in a small school settingFayette Central School values community, creativity, and strong relationships.
