Position: Network EngineerLength: 6 month contract to hireLocation: 90 7th St #5, San Francisco, CA 94103 (must reside within 50 miles)Schedule: Hybrid Shift: 10am - 7pmTravel: 25-50% (driving)Compensation: $42/hour to $45/hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.Note: These individuals will be processed for a Public Trust.Requirements:Active Public Trust or higher.Bachelor's degree with 4 years of experience OR no degree with 7 years of experience.Ability to design, support, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure across local offices and data centers, ensuring resilient, high‑availability connectivity.Experience configuring and maintaining Cisco routers, switches, wireless solutions, routing protocols, and network segmentation in production environments.Proficiency managing Palo Alto firewalls, security policies, threat‑prevention features, and VPN technologies for secure enterprise operations.Ability to monitor network health, respond to outages, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term corrective actions. Day to Day:An employer is looking for a Network Engineer to sit hybrid in San Francisco, CA to support of a large government healthcare contract. This candidate will handle enterprise network engineering responsibilities across local offices and data centers, ensuring stable and highly available LAN/WAN connectivity. They will apply strong Cisco networking expertise to configure and maintain routers, switches, wireless systems, routing protocols, and segmentation in production environments. They will also manage critical security functions through Palo Alto firewall administration, including policy updates, threat‑prevention tuning, and VPN support. Throughout the day, this candidate will stay proactive with network monitoring and incident response, tracking network health, responding to alerts, diagnosing issues, and implementing long‑term fixes to prevent future disruptions.
