Human Resources Manager

The Firm’s Human Resources Manager is responsible for performing a wide variety of HR generalist duties and responsibilities including policy development, recruitment, compensation, legal compliance, benefits administration, employee relations, leave administration, and performance management. Incumbent will assist leadership with planning and implementing strategic objectives for development of the human resources function.Remote work; May be required to work on-site 1 day per week. In this role, you will have the opportunity to coordinate your schedule in a way that only requires a 4 day work week. Fields Law Firm is a multi-state law firm with headquarters in Minnetonka, Minnesota. We represent clients who were hurt at work, in construction accidents and injuries resulting in disability claims.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy while maintaining compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulationsProvides support and guidance to management for policy implementation and interpretation; updates handbook and state supplement as needed; serves as advisor to leadership to recommend best practices, and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulationsAssists the CEO/Principal with the non-attorney talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings; trains managers on acceptable interview practicesOversees onboarding and hiring process, including I-9/E-Verify compliance, writing and maintaining job descriptions, conducting onboarding, working closely with Accounting to ensure new hires are processed in payroll systems; completing pre-hire background checksAssists with administration of pay changes; serves as liaison with benefits brokers to assist with benefits administration; serves as internal benefits expert to assist with questions, presentations and open enrollment initiativesManages leave and accommodations processes, including FMLA, ADA and any applicable state leaves or accommodations; coordinates with Accounting for payroll purposes and works closely with manager to coordinate leaveAssists management team with performance management including assisting with employee relations issues, best practices, coaching through difficult situations, disciplinary meetings and terminations; works with managers to conduct investigations as appropriateOversees the worker’s comp administration, maintains incident reports, complies with OSHA requirements, assists with safety initiativesMaintains personnel records, I-9 records, E-Verify records, and other human resources documentation and records in accordance with applicable law; maintains records retention scheduleCoordinates with Accounting to ensure HR data is kept current and updated in the payroll system; may maintain electronic records using other HRIS systems as neededMaintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment lawPerform a variety of hands-on duties to perform job responsibilities including prepare reports, perform data entry, make copies, attend meetings, type documents, perform filing, and other various administrative dutiesPerforms other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: NoneMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field and/or an equivalent combination of experience and educationMinimum of 5 years of HR experience as a generalist working in a small to mid-sized organization; remote work environment and/or multi-state organization is preferredMust be well versed in current federal, state and local laws and have direct experience with EEO, ACA, ADA, FMLA, WC, HIPAA, FLSA, OSHA, ADEA, unemployment insurance, etc.Certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is preferredDemonstrated general business acumen with fluency in business terminology, corporate processes and basic accounting principalsTechnology Experience: Advanced computer skills, including using MS Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook; HRIS/Payroll platforms (ADP or similar); Internet; Teams/Zoom, etc.; ability to learn new technologies quicklySalary is in the range of $75,000 - 90,000/year Based Upon Experience
