Engineer, Manufacturing
Job Purpose
The Design Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes for Honda Aircraft Company products. This role partners closely with Engineering and Production to ensure product producibility, define efficient build processes, develop tooling requirements, and support continuous improvement initiatives across assigned aircraft areas.
Key Accountabilities
Own production process definition and implementation for assigned aircraft areas
Develop, review, and revise installation build plans for new or updated engineering designs
Review and approve engineering drawings and models to ensure manufacturability
Identify, request, approve, and troubleshoot manufacturing tooling, including root cause analysis of tooling-related nonconformances
Manage Design for Manufacturability (DFM) requests, including internal and external submissions
Review and approve change requests (CRs), assessing impacts to production and coordinating with cross-functional teams
Support shop floor implementation of major engineering and process changes
Drive process improvements to improve quality, efficiency, and production performance
Collaborate with suppliers, engineering, and production teams to support manufacturing execution
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace preferred)
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience
Preferred Skills & Experience
Manufacturing experience with detail parts, assemblies, and installations
Experience defining assembly processes for complex aerostructures (composite and metallic)
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication (hand forming, brake, hydro-form, hot forming, SPF, stretch forming)
Experience with tube and duct manufacturing (bending, forming, welding)
Knowledge of chemical and physical processing of metallic and composite parts (heat treat, priming, painting, anodizing, NDT, etc.)
Strong GD&T expertise
Ability to define fabrication, assembly, and installation tooling
Experience reviewing and approving 2D/3D engineering drawings for manufacturability
CATIA V5/V6 experience preferred; CAD experience required
SAP experience preferred
Proven troubleshooting skills for manufacturing defects, errors, and efficiency issues
Experience performing vendor cost analysis vs. in-house manufacturing
Project management experience in a manufacturing environment (scheduling, Gantt charts, process flows, resource planning)
Ability to lead and coordinate work of other manufacturing engineers
Experience working in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Key Performance Indicators
On-time completion of deliverables (e.g., build plans, process definitions, cost reports)
Accuracy and quality of engineering drawing reviews for manufacturability

Exposure to equipment noise, temperature variations, dust, and aircraft materials
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 10 lbs independently and up to 50 lbs with assistance equipment
Must comply with FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other regulatory requirements
Ability to communicate effectively in business English
