This role is highly client-facing and will serve as the primary design partner to homeowners, guiding them through interior design decisions while ensuring seamless execution across architecture, product, and construction.What You’ll DoClient Experience & PresentationAct as the primary design partner for homeowners, guiding them through the full interior selection process (finishes, fixtures, materials, etc.)Present design concepts, renderings, and visual materials to clients, clearly communicating design intent and rationaleManage client expectations, timelines, and decision-making throughout the design processDesign Development & ExecutionDevelop interior design concepts, space planning solutions, and cohesive finish palettes for custom homes and ADUsSelect interior finishes, fixtures, materials, lighting, and hardware aligned with project scope,design standards, and budgetCreate and prepare design presentations, renderings, mood boards, and material palettes for both clients and internal teamsDesign-to-Build IntegrationTranslate client selections and approved designs into clear, actionable specifications for architecture and construction teamsCollaborate closely with architects, product, and construction teams to ensure design intent is accurately executedReview architectural drawings, sections, elevations, and shop drawings to ensure interior details (cabinetry, lighting, millwork) are technically soundDocumentation & CoordinationMaintain meticulous documentation of all design selections and specifications to ensure accuracy during procurement and constructionCoordinate with vendors and suppliers to source materials, confirm availability, and manage lead timesProactively problem-solve around material availability, budget constraints, and site conditionsSite ExecutionConduct site visits to verify alignment between design documentation and constructionPartner with construction teams to resolve field-based design challenges and ensure high-quality executionWhat We’re Looking For4+ years of experience in residential interior design or interior architecture.Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and detailing.Proficiency with design and documentation tools (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).Strong ability to present design concepts and renderings in a clear, compelling way to clientsHighly organized with strong attention to detail.Excellent communication skills — able to articulate the “why” behind design decisions to clients and the “how” to buildersProactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and constraintsStrong client management and relationship-building skillsPortfolio showcasing residential interior design work requiredValid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites or showrooms as neededWhy Join UsAt formX, you’ll play a key role in shaping the team that’s redefining the future of housing.
