Job DescriptionSurgical AssistantKentucky Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery – Hamburg Office2424 Sir Barton Way, Unit 375, Lexington, KY 40509Are you a skilled Surgical Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and loves delivering exceptional patient care? Kentucky Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented professional to join our Hamburg office in Lexington.In this role, you'll work closely with our Oral Surgeons to support surgical procedures, guide patients through pre- and post-op care, and help create a high-touch, "white glove" patient experience from start to finish.What You'll DoAs a Surgical Assistant, you'll play an essential role in both clinical excellence and patient comfort by:Preparing patients for consultations and surgical proceduresAssisting Oral Surgeons chairside during surgery and related clinical proceduresHelping patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their treatment planTaking radiographs and CT scans efficiently and accuratelySterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment in accordance with state infection control guidelinesCleaning and preparing operatories to support safe, efficient patient careSetting up trays and maintaining supply levels in each operatoryProviding pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by the oral surgeonRecording patient charting and surgeon notes in the digital patient chartMaintaining compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and all applicable regulations and best practicesSupporting sedation processes, IV supplies, patient histories, and post-op care as neededRecording drugs and vitals before and after surgeryEscorting or wheeling sedated patients out after surgeryAssisting front office staff when neededHelping track implant and surgical suppliesQualificationsExperience in dental and/or oral surgery preferredWillingness to travel to other offices if neededStrong customer service skills with a patient-centered approachSkills for SuccessEffective written, verbal, and electronic communicationAbility to build trust and strong working relationships with doctors, managers, peers, and patientsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsAbility to take initiative and exercise sound judgmentStrong problem-solving abilitiesCommitment to maintaining confidentialityProficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointA collaborative mindset and shared accountability across teamsWork EnvironmentThis role is based primarily in a clinical setting, working closely with doctors during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures and using specialized surgical equipment. Some responsibilities may also take place in an office setting using a computer, telephone system, and other standard office equipment.
