Defense Manufacturing Quality Control Inspector – Precision Metrology

Louisville facility—relies on inspectors like you to keep the mission on target.Your challengePicture this: a complex machined component arrives at your bench. You interpret the latest revision drawing, confirm paperwork and traceability, then run CMM and Faro programs to validate true position, runout, concentricity, flatness, thread standards, roundness, and critical ID/OD and length/height callouts. You flag a subtle deviation, work shoulder-to-shoulder with machinists to adjust the process, and capture results in our quality database—preventing rework and protecting delivery.What you’ll tacklePerform visual and dimensional inspections with CMM, Faro, and precision gauges to verify specifications and tolerances.Conduct and document 100% dimensional and visual First Article Inspections per drawings, technical instructions, and AS9100.Validate part traceability, ensure paperwork matches the correct drawing revision, and maintain thorough inspection records.Partner across production, quality, and engineering to identify root causes and recommend machining process improvements.Oversee gauge calibration programs; coordinate external calibrations, source inspections, and audits with customers, suppliers, and governmental agencies.Model safety-first behavior and uphold all site procedures.What sets you up for success1–10 years in quality control or a related discipline.High school diploma or equivalent required; A.S. degree and/or GD&T, ASQ CQI, or metrology credentials preferred.Fluency with blueprints and tools like Microsoft Office 365, netInspec, Discuss, Zeiss Calypso, and Faro Cam 2.Sharp attention to detail, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.Life at WhelanCompetitive pay, great benefits, and quarterly incentive paysGrowth-minded culture that values your skill and developmentMeaningful work supporting the DoDBrand-new 70,000 sq. ft. facility in Louisville, KYReports to: Quality ManagerVersion Date: 04/16/2026Take your next stepBased in Louisville or nearby?
