Service Technician in Training

Position SummaryAs a Service Technician in Training (SIT), you are a driven individual with the ability and willingness to learn all aspects of maintaining a valuable multi-million- dollar asset. SITs should be familiar with hand tools and be mechanically inclined. A successful Service Technician in Training is able to manage their time effectively, is detail oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work. In addition, this position needs to be accountable and attentive to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with residents, associates and vendors.Primary ResponsibilitiesLearn all aspects of preparing apartments for occupancy including but not limited to: painting, drywall repair, trash out, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairsLearn to perform service requests for residents daily and timelyLearn to perform system repairs on electrical, plumbing, boilers, hot water heaters, HVAC systems, appliances, etcLearn to perform detailed work with carpentry, drywall repairs and interior/exterior painting, etcLearn to distinguish when full-paint or touch-up paint is needed, as well as knowledge and ability to identify correct paint sheen and colorLearn to clean pools, monitor chemical balance, maintain logs as required by city ordinances, when applicablePerform daily grounds maintenance of the property including picking up and disposing of all trash, pet defecation removal, maintain pet waste stations, and sweeping walkwaysLearn and participate in property improvements and preventive maintenance scheduled tasks, promptlyExpect to take part in the on-call rotation any time after 90 days of employmentEnsure market ready apartments, common areas and amenities are clean and maintained daily to Weidner’s quality standardsQualificationsQualifications:Mechanical aptitude requiredSuccessful completion of the Service in Training curriculum within 6 monthsAble to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, climb ladders and climb multiple flights of stairs at a timeAble to use appliance dolly, push/pull up to 200 poundsAble to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAble to be on feet constantly for entire work shift, if applicableComplete tasks in a safe and efficient mannerAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with strong motivation to learn & contribute on a daily basisAble to give professional directions clearly in person, over the phone, email, and textExperienced in Microsoft products preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)Yardi and Paycom experience preferred; Willing and able to learn new software programsFollow Weidner’s Mission, Vision and Values and comply with all Weidner policies and procedures as well as all Fair Housing, local, state/province, and federal lawsPrompt, regular attendance; wear company dress code / uniform & maintain professional appearance at all timesWork effectively and cooperatively in a team environment and/or independentlyAbility to work outside of normal scheduled hours as neededWilling and able to be assigned to other Weidner properties as neededWorking knowledge of English; detail oriented, well organizedMust agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testingMust have access to personal vehicle and/or reliable transportation, at all timesDriver’s license, vehicle and vehicle insurance must be valid and unexpired at all times and match the country in which associate will work
