With an environment that encourages and assists each person in developing to their highest potential, a career at A-dec is incredibly rewarding.OverviewThe CNC Programmer I position supports the development of CNC programs for standard production runs and assists with simple too complex parts, including prototypes and custom orders during new product development by using CAD, CAM, and related software. This role receives structured training and close mentorship from experienced team members.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist with programming using Engineering CAD files of new or revised designs. Including but not limited to standard production parts and first run prototypes, receiving guided feedback to build programming skills.Assist in revising and updating CNC programs based on operator feedback and review. Assist in file-saving protocols and accurate program version control.Help research tooling technology and participate in quality testing. Under supervision, assist in selecting CNC supplies and tooling, and maintain CAD, CAM and Inventor files for special tooling.Prepare production documentation to guide CNC setup and operation. Ensure that engineering revisions are up to date and follow departmental policies learning how documentation supports manufacturing success.Provide introductory assistance in training CNC operators and Woodworkers on hardware and software usage.Work collaboratively with Tooling, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineers, ME Techs, and other Programmers to develop methods, diagnose machine or fixture issues, and contribute ideas for Design For Manufacturability (DFM).Maintain quality and productivity standards, demonstrate reliability, and follow safety guidelines consistently meeting expectations.Assist with process, program, tooling, and/or fixturing enhancements.QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of CAM software including producing usable code for the required machinery type control and application.Perform advanced machining and fabrication tasks, inspect assigned work, including first article inspection.Demonstrated ability to interpret complex blueprints, rough drawn sketches, CAD/CATIA and Inventor files.Working knowledge of GD&T to develop programs and other related documentation, where applicable.Able to perform complex programming math calculations with an understanding of decimal/fraction equivalence, geometry and other.Demonstrate behaviors and attitudes that emphasize and focus on permanent resolutions to problems. Collaboratively work with other employees within work groups to achieve goals. Ability to effectively communicate work information, both orally and in writing.Demonstrates the ability to manage time and resources effectively.Demonstrates understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.Education and Experience* Typically requires 2+ years of machine center and/or CNC machine operation experience.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively. Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift. Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and /or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.Ability to wear respiratory protection and comply with OSHA's respirator use requirements.DisclaimerThis job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
