Engineering Specialist

Location: 100% Travel (Onsite at Renewable Plants / Substations) Duration: 12-Month Contract Openings: 12 Start: ASAP (Early March Target) Priority: High Pay Rate: $58/hr. on W2 Travel Expenses Position Overview We are seeking a senior-level, hands-on Field Substation Commissioning to lead commissioning activities at utility-scale renewable energy projects (Solar / BESS / Wind). This role requires deep technical expertise in protection & controls, relay testing, SCADA integration, and grid interconnection, along with the ability to coordinate EPCs, OEMs, and site teams during energization and startup. This is a field-based position with 100% travel (approximately one month per site). Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all onsite commissioning activities Coordinate EPC contractors, OEM startup teams, third-party vendors, and operations personnel Support breaker, transformer, and panel energization Ensure projects meet interconnection agreement requirements before COD Interface with Transmission Operators and ISOs Ensure compliance with safety, engineering, and quality standards Deliver high reliability at operational turnover Required Technical Skills (Must Have) Protection & Relay Expertise Relay Testing (functional, logic, end-to-end testing) Troubleshooting trip events, misoperations, and logic errors SCADA & Communication SCADA mapping and point-to-point verification Interconnection & Grid Integration LGIA & PPA compliance understanding Commissioning prior to Commercial Operation Date (COD) Electrical Construction & Commissioning Knowledge E&I controls and instrumentation installation/startup Drawing review & quality control inspection Renewable power plant commissioning Preferred Background 3+ years onsite commissioning in renewable generation 3+ years with EPC firms Experience working with multiple OEMs (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Schneider, inverter/BESS OEMs) Strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders onsite Self-starter with strong safety and quality focus EEO Statement Mindlance is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of Minority/Gender/Disability/Religion/LGBTQI/Age/Veterans. #J-18808-Ljbffr
