You play a pivotal part in enhancing our supplier performance, fostering innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services.You will report directly to our Director of Supplier Development, and you’ll work out of our Torrance, CA, United States location on a Hybrid work schedule.In this role, you will impact our organization by bringing extensive expertise and experience in supplier development. You will play a crucial role in driving supplier performance and ensuring that our suppliers meet the highest quality standards. As a Sr. Supplier Development Engineer, you are essential in maintaining strong supplier partnerships, optimizing costs, and ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality products. Help to build a strong, diverse team by recruiting talent, identifying and developing successors, driving retention and engagement, and fostering an inclusive culture.ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and execute a comprehensive supplier development strategy that aligns with the organization's goals, ensuring the enhancement of supplier performance and capabilities.Lead process improvement projects and /or events to streamline supplier performance.Develop positive relationships and work closely with Global Sourcing leaders to manage, implement and track supplier/engineering, design changes, capacity studies and New Product Introductions (NPI), and transitions.Drive improvements utilizing Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards and supplier assessments.Track the supplier’s performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations.Support the manufacturing of complex parts and sub-assemblies by providing technical expertise and support for suppliers.Review manufacturing processes to ensure they will yield parts compliant to engineering drawings and specifications.Create and participate in PFMEA activities, Work Instruction Improvements, and Control Plan effectiveness with suppliers.Drive improvements utilizing Six Sigma methodologies, supplier scorecards and supplier assessments.Ensure supplier compliance while driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver performance.Drive cross functional engagement to remove roadblocks necessary to improve supplier performance.Eliminate any risks that will prevent suppliers from meeting performance targets and escalate as needed.QualificationsYOU MUST HAVE5+ years of experience in supplier development, engineering, or a related leadership role.Bachelor’s degree in engineering.Experience working with Sheet Metal Fabrication suppliers.Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Experience in performing production readiness & rate readiness reviews / assessments.Ability to interface effectively with all levels of leadership. Proven problem-solving skills, including ability to interpret business performance and financial data, define actions, and implement solutions. Experience working with global suppliers.Willingness to travel, up to 50%.WE VALUEMaster’s Degree.Experience with SAP, project management tools, and other business management tools used in Honeywell.Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Expert Certification.Able to read technical drawings and documentation (GD&T).Effective collaboration skills to motivate and influence others at various levels without a direct reporting relationship.Knowledge of using Six sigma / quality Tools and APQP (PFMEA, Control plan, SPC MSA etc.). Experience in supplier development and supplier relationship management.Experience with project management and Kaizen facilitation.
