Finance Manager
Description:
The Finance Manager will supervise, monitor, and evaluate the accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely accounting data. They will facilitate organizational operations by identifying cost reduction opportunities, supporting decision-making processes, and managing risk. Responsibilities include overseeing the monthly general ledger closing, preparing and reviewing financial reports, managing accounts payable and receivable functions, leading forecasting efforts, and overseeing project accounting and reporting.
Requirements:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field. Master’s degree and/or CPA designation a plus but not required.
EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years of Finance or Accounting experience.
GENERAL SKILLS
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong analytical ability to synthesize diverse information.
Prior supervisory experience.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience within a service-based industry is a plus.
Familiarity with managing finances across multiple companies is a plus.
Ability to set clear and challenging goals while driving team performance; tenacious and accountable in delivering results.
Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, with skills in prioritization, delegation, active communication, and coaching/mentoring.
Proficiency in MS Office applications, with particular emphasis on Excel and Power BI.
Solid knowledge of accounting software.
Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint is a plus.
Familiarity with General Ledger accounting and closing processes.
Experience with Salesforce.com is a plus.
Experience with Smartsheet is a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Generate and review general ledger journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliations for month-end close.
Supervise and oversee daily operations of the Accounting Team.
Monitor and analyze accounting data, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, fixed asset activity, debt activity, investment activity, and project accounting.
Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Prepare and distribute monthly management reports, financial statements, and project financial reports.
Prepare schedules and reports to support annual financial statement audits and sales tax audits.
File monthly sales tax returns and remittances with various US states.
Manage the project accounting system, including project setup, tracking, and reporting.
Provide recommendations for accounting procedures and policies.
Identify opportunities to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
Manage property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) and capital spending tracking and reporting.
Handle special projects as assigned by the Senior Controller.
Display a high degree of competency in interpreting and applying accounting principles, practices, policies, and procedures.
