Dance Counselor at Premier Summer Camp

Job Description Camp Laurel, one of New England's premier overnight summer camps in Maine as a Dance Counselor and help create an energetic, encouraging, and inspiring environment for campers ages 7–15. We are seeking passionate dancers and choreographers with experience in multiple styles, especially hip hop, who love working with children and thrive in a collaborative team atmosphere.ResponsibilitiesTeach daily dance classes for campers of varying ages and skill levelsPrimarily instruct hip hop, with some classes in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and modern danceCreate a positive, inclusive, and confidence-building environment for all campersHelp choreograph and rehearse routines for two major camp dance shows performed for the entire camp communityEncourage creativity, self-expression, teamwork, and personal growth through danceSupervise and mentor campers both in and outside of activity periods as part of the camp communityAssist with music selection, costume organization, staging, and overall show production supportMaintain a safe, organized, and enthusiastic studio environmentServe as a positive role model and contribute to the camp's supportive cultureQualificationsStrong background in dance instruction and performance, especially hip hopExperience in multiple dance disciplines including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, and/or modernExperience teaching or mentoring children preferredHigh energy, flexibility, creativity, and strong communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced camp environmentPassion for helping children build confidence and develop new skillsPosition DetailsJune 19 through August 12Salary, Travel Allowance, Room, Board, and Meals includedOpportunity to work alongside talented staff from around the worldA fun, rewarding summer creating unforgettable experiences for campersThis is an incredible opportunity for dancers and educators looking to combine their passion for performance, teaching, and mentorship in a high-energy summer environment.
